Studio Policy 2022-2023

Tuition
Tuition for private music lessons covers 42 weeks of study from September 1st, 2022 to August 31st, 2023 and is payable in 12 equal monthly payments. Tuition covers the following services: weekly piano lessons and communication with the teacher throughout the week via text and email. A late-payment fee of $1 will be charged per day for tuition not received by the 1st of the month. Students starting mid-semester will have their tuition prorated. I accept payments through Zelle or automatic bank transfer. Tuition may be adjusted annually at the start of September.

Please contact me for tuition rates.

Books, Materials, and Activities
Students are expected to purchase the required books, materials, and activities separate from tuition.

Calendar
A yearly calendar of holidays and non-lesson weeks will be provided to the student via email. Please add these dates to your calendar. Students will be reminded of weeks off during the prior lesson.

Missed Lessons
Refunds, credits, or make-ups will not be given for lessons missed or cancelled by the student. Out of courtesy, please let the piano teacher know 24 hours in advance if you are cancelling a lesson. For in-person students, you may request an online lesson to prevent an absence. Four (4) flex days have been built into the schedule for use by the teacher as needed. If the flex days are not used, the student receives those lessons for free.

Lesson Expectations
Students must remember to have the following materials at their lesson:

  • An assignment notebook
  • All books currently in use
  • Pencil
  • Tote bag (encouraged, not required)
Guidelines to facilitate effective practicing:
  • The teacher and student will decide on a weekly practice goal to be divided by 6 days. Please maintain this practice schedule.
  • Give practice time a priority in your day.
  • You can take breaks during a practice session. Short and frequent practice sessions are the most effective.
  • Avoid distractions.

Proper Grooming and Proper Dress
Please keep fingernails short.

Involvement of Parents or Guardians

  • Please listen to your child play with encouragement and enthusiasm. Please sit down with your child at least once a week to see that all assignments are practiced and to offer support.
  • Please provide a well-tuned piano (tuned at least once a year) or a digital piano, a metronome or metronome app, and a quiet place to practice.
  • Parents are encouraged to call, text, or email if there are any questions or concerns. It is my goal to provide a positive learning experience with support throughout the week.

Discontinuing Lessons
The teacher requests one-month’s notice when discontinuing lessons. However, students may end lessons at any time. At the teacher’s discretion, students may be dismissed at any time for unpaid tuition, excessive absences, unprepared lessons, a lack of interest, or misbehavior.

A copy of this policy will be provided by email with lesson costs. It must be signed, dated, and emailed back to the teacher before lessons begin.
